Born In Edenderry, Co. Offaly Michael Malone served in the 15th Kentucky Regiment. Struck by a cannon ball during The Battle of Perryville he died on the 8th October 1862.
Patrick Mahon, an Irish emigrant, served in the 6th Iowa Infantry during the American Civil War, participating in major battles including Shiloh and Bentonville. After the war, he returned to Edenderry, Ireland, where he passed away in 1900. His life illustrates the profound impact of the Civil War on Irish emigrants.
