Colonel Michael Bennett, born on July 28, 1826, in Monasteroris, Edenderry, emigrated to the US in 1849. He commanded the 28th New York State Militia Regiment during the Civil War and was injured at Gettysburg. He passed away in 1901 and is buried in Holy Cross Cemetery, Brooklyn.
