Joseph McElroy
Joseph McElroy, born in Tullamore in 1826, enlisted in the Union Army’s 3rd Artillery Band in 1853. He served until his death from pneumonitis on December 16, 1866, at Fort Adams, Rhode Island. Notably, he was court-martialed in 1861 but was exonerated. His remains are located in New York.
